Alone time


Beautiful day today 

Eric and I got to take a walk all by our selfs this morning. I can't remember the last time we did that. So nice and also weird to be without the kids for a little while. No one asking questions about pretty much everything or trying to get your attention in some way. Nice to just be two for once. 
Sometimes in this busy life it's hard to remember who we are. And just be with the person you love. And man do I ever love this man a lot!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. And try to spend some extra time with your love if you can. Nothing is better than feeling love and loved.

Pulled pork. Crockpot love

This morning I put a big piece of pork and lots of veggies in my Crockpot.
And there I left it until we were all ready to eat tonight.
It is so easy, and it gets so nice, tender and juicy.


Tina made a great salad to go with. Ate way too much, but it was soooo good.




Ordered some new shirts from look human.com  


And then I read a good article today and it had a quote I liked.... 
It was a coach that was tired of peoples excuses of why they are in.... Not the shape they want to be in. Just to say it nicely. 
He was tired of peoples excuses, like but we have pizza fridays at work. No one made you eat that pizza.
We have cake day, no one makes you eat that cake.....
You must have a treat with your favourite show.... YOU MUST?  No you don't. If you are not happy with how you look and feel, you are the only one that can change that. Only you. And it is a commitment, a marriage, yes you can loose 10 kg in 3 weeks, will it last you a life time? NO it won't.
Do you have to give up everything for ever, no you don't but a treat is a treat. It does not happen everyday, every week, maybe once a month. Or more rare. 
SO stop making excuses. You are in charge of you.

Naked feet, miss grounding


Not easy to get to do grounding here in the winter. And even if you find a bare spot, see how long you can stand for. It's pretty cold!
Think I'm gonna put a nice warm blanked down in this spot by the carport so I can sit there for a few minutes everyday, maybe with a cup of coffee or some tea....??? 
Any one else have expieriance with grounding in the winter?

Back seeing an old friend and family


Today Tina and I took a little road trip back home to Vinstra and Kvam 
Finally got to go see one of my friends that I haven't seen in a couple of years. Two kids born since we last saw each other. Used to be at her house all the time when I was a teenager, she has helped me thru a lot and it was so nice to see her again. 
Weird things about friends like this is just like I was there yesterday. Same talking, just with updates. 


Had a nice little coffee visit with our grandparents first, Johan was very fascinated about the ceiling fan


Then we stopped at our other  grandparents on the way back to Oppdal.




This morning we also had a quick stop at our dads work. 
Cool to see him at his work. When we drove back from Kvam we honked so all the workers waived from the bridge. Hard working man my dad, a good man he is.  Love him :)

Jonas and I ditched the house chores today and went for a visit in the morning. Sometimes that is needed too.

Wing night and Jurassic Park



Today Eric made his awesome wings, buffalo, teriyaki, honey/garlic, salt&pepper and some man wings for my dad ( extra extra extra hot ) My dad is visiting here with his girlfriend. Koselig :)
So wings is an easy and good meal to share. With lots of veggies to dip on the side.


Jurassic Park was on the tv tonight, so we watched that with Jonas, he was fascinated. I remember I loved this movie when I was a kid and Tina and I watched it quite a few times. 


Went to the frozen waterfall by Vardammen. Never been there before but always wanted to since I first saw pictures from there. Really cool place I must say


We all went there but Tina and I were the only ones that hiked down there, not really a kid friendly place to hike down. 
But have to go back to get more pictures there later ;)

What is chaga?

Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is a type of medicinal mushroom. Long used in folk medicine, chaga is said to offer a number of health benefits. It comes from birch. A type of bitch cancer.
The lady that was my doula is very informed in stuff we can find and use in the nature and she is the one who gave this to me as she has gathered this and made it her self.

Uses for Chaga




Chaga is purported to reduce inflammation, boost the immune system, enhance liver health, and fight viruses. In addition, some proponents claim that chaga can help treat and/or prevent some forms of cancer.

Chaga possesses antioxidants 

I have just stated using this in my tea. It has a coffee like taste and color. So I can't say if it has made a huge difference in my life, but I believe that all the little things I am doing is helping a little by little. It's like I try something for a while...Meaning 1 to 3 months then if I quit or forget or start slacking for a while, I do notice that Hey maybe I was feeling better. 
Magnesium is the perfect example for this. First time I tried a high dose of magnesium I immediately felt a numbness in my body. ( magnesium is a natural muscle relaxant) then I never got that feeling again, but kept taking magnesium. Then I was out for a while and I started noticing that my sleep was no longer the same and my muscles were more sore.  Now I always take my magnesium, and on days when I do hard work outs I take a little more then recommended dose. And I feel so much better.
Also my 5htp is really starting to make a difference in my sleep now. I sleep sounder, I remember my dreams and fall asleep faster after being up with the baby.

Stickmann carrot cake! 
Made Eric the same cake as last year as it was a big hit. 
If anyone wants to see how it is made please look up my blog from last year. It's super easy to make and it's nice and moist. 



This is Eric's birthday dinner. 
Spareribs, stuffed pepper and prosciutto wrapped asparagus with mushrooms. Think I had a very happy man today.
Huge thanks to Tina who has been helping me all day getting everything ready. 
Jonas made daddy a nice crown with the help of Tante Tina. 

 

Exiting stuff happening in stickmann land too. The Facebook page is now up and running. Newspaper tomorrow.....future... Well stay tuned

First time 6 hours !! CrockPot


Today I finally got to test out my crockpot!! Yay so easy. Just throw what ever you want in leave it and few hours later dinner is ready. 
I sure can say that this meal was quite simple as I'm used to this machine yet, and I also did it plain as I wanted to be able to give it to Johan. 
Used two packs of bone and skinless chicken thighs, 5 carrots, 2 sweet potatoes, one onion ( cut this one big so I could take it out not sure about onion and baby tummy just yet same with the garlic ) 
Used stock from the ham
Thyme, salt, pepper, curry and turmeric
Coop has some good deals on salads this week to so got some mixed greens to go with

Poor little Johan is getting some teeth and is not at his best. Kept us up for most of the night. Little bit of fever. 
Good to have a Tante Tina around to get some good cuddles from


Kettlebell horder :)

Need lots of bells when you practise new stuff and old stuff. Don't want to over do new movements with heavy bells 8 kg to 20 kg 
Struggling big time with my overhead squat....but will get there :)

What did we do today?


Well, today I don't really feel like I have done much. 
Dealt with some stupid car stuff. More to come about that later! 
Tina and I had a nice but cold walk in the sun today. Had to get a funny picture. Tina and I have always had lots of fun taking pictures. So getting back into that is cool. 
Today we just did a left over dinner. Nice and easy. I love having cooked big meals so that on days when I don't really feel like doing much I can just throw things in a pan or pot and mix it together and voila a meal. Today it was the left over trout, some frozen cod and veggies :) 

Now I'm gonna have some tea and watch Latter (meaning laughter) a Norwegian standup show

Zoodles and 20kg snatch!



Finally got to test out my julienne peeler today, made zoodles. 
Zoodles are spagetti noodles made from zucchini. I used two zucchinis and also two carrots.
Two packs of ground turkey, 4 big game meatballs and I also hid a little bit of game liver. I did not tell anybody that until they were done eating. Everybody ate lots and had seconds. Even Jonas ate all his food, fast and without complaints. He is my difficult one when it comes to dinners. Breakfast he will eat super fast and no complaints. Dinner he can sit for an hour and saying that he is not hungry almost no matter what I serve.





Then at 7 I went to my kettle bell class. Full class as always.
 Thanks to my fellow "kettlebell-passionista" I tried to use the 20kg bell. And I did it, maybe not with style, but I did it. Sweaty as hell, happy as a pig in shit

Also made it out to do a little bit of archery today, it was cold due to the wind, but nice to be out in the sun. Miss shooting and looking forward to milder weather so I can do it some more.

We made it!!

Woke up to a beautiful day today, could not wait for the sun to get out and go for a walk.
Woke Tina up and asked her to join me.
Started our walk down by Steinsheim and up we went.  Not the easiest thing without skis or show shoeing.
Walked partly in old skis tracks, but for most of the time we were walking in knee/hip deep snow. Or actuarially crawling on out hands and knees. Lactic acid much.
We were pretty tired and a few times thinking of turning around, but whats the point of only walking half way there, you gotta make it to the top.
And big thanks to Eric for taking care of the kids so mamma get some time out :)

Cucumber salad
Graded carrots and boiled for little man
Cauliflower rice
And a little salad on the side
I love fish

And it was a perfect meal after using the body like that, feeling good

Ham Ham Ham and a 7km walk


Saturday and groceries....
Walked into town today with Tina and Johan. 
Then going to different stores finding the best deals and getting what we need for the week. 

Tina took charge of dinner today making ham and cream cabbage with broccoli. 
Very very tasty.

MCT oil WOW!


MCT (medium chain triglycerides)

Finally starting to use this.
Been thinking about it for a while, but never ended up getting it.
MCT is a fat that immediately synthesises to ketones so it can't turn to fat in the body. It gives a lot of energy all day and satisfies your gratings hugely.
I now put that in my coffee in the morning with butter instead of coconut oil, I was getting a little bit tired of the coconut taste in my coffee.
I'm also gonna use it in my food in different ways.
It does not taste like anything
Only tried it for two days, starting it easy, don't want to risk getting the runs :P
Interested to see how it work for me, as I hear only good stuff about it :)

Kettlebell❤️Love



Last week got a little "ruff" at kettle bell, gotta love these blisters. 
Most of the people that were at the classes last week had several blisters in their hands. 
But the fun thing is that no one is really upset about it, it's more like we are showing each other our battle wounds. Little less snatch and stuff this week tho :)
I love  my kettle bell group, you guys are awesome!!

Paleo banana muffins and skiing :)


Took Jonas out for a little cross country skiing today

Earlier today we made banana bread muffins. A nice little trick to get the kids out and moving is a reward at the end. But I really want to try to make them as healthy as possible

Muffin recipe

1/2 cup coconut flour
1/2 cup almond flour
2 1/2 banana
4 eggs 
1 tbs baking soda
1 tsp vanilla powder
1/4 cup honey
2tbs xylitol
1/4 cup raw cocoa nibs 
1/3 cup melted butter or coconut oil 
I used butter 

Bake on 175 c for 30 minutes 
 Mix eggs and bananas first then add the rest

Cooking day

Busy day lots done :)
Dried fruit, pineapple and apples. The apples I toss in cinnamon really good. 
Made seed "knekkebrød" and sesame bread. The bread is not totally paleo as it has oats in it. But it's very little and gluten free and Jonas loves it. 
We so made datebars. They are too good to keep in the house tho!! Can't make them too often because I will eat it all! 





For dinner today I put 12 chicken thighs in the oven with paprika, rosemary, salt and pepper
Had kale, spinach, pepper, onion, garlic and ginger in a pan. 
Eric had mushrooms too. 

Easy and quick dinner.

 

Got some good vitamin D time today as the weather was really nice. Pulled out the Norwegian spark and cruised down the hill. So much fun. Even went down to the local coffee shop for a coffee on out last trip.
